1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Get this, I've never heard of this ever, my nephew has applied for his sec2 grant, he's 19 and neither of his parents shoot but myself and my dad are guiding him through it.
He got a call from Kent firearms asking him what shot gun he was going to get!
I fail to see what the point of that was, he can only buy what's legally allowed.

The correct answer is a Franchi SPAS12. Kidding, probably due to a certain Portsmouth incident. A nice English sidelock 12 bore s/s with 65mm chambers would be a good answer.

Safe to say non of the above...

And that was before the Portsmouth incident

why would he only be allowed to buy/possess only one shotgun?
this is not part of any of the HO guidelines for granting a SGC and is only required for FAC grant as far as type/s and calibre/s go.

I don't think it was about restricting him to one gun, I think they were asking him about what make/type he wanted!
Still, I've never heard of that before, especially as he may not have a clue yet, he'll only be clay shooting but there's no rules about what you can use for that, s/s, o/u, pump, semi, lever, they're all legal so I don't get it.
I can see why some people would raise an eyebrow if he'd said Franchi spas but a sec2 is a sec2.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the FEO phising to see if the applicant knew anything about shotguns or an excuse to touch base in a more direct and personal way.

Or it was a sign the FEO knew nothing about the laws on SGC and shotgun purchasing.

Hello, why not just answer the question , a shotgun for clay pigeon shooting, most likely a O/U , if one has been selected then give those details , keep on the right side of the FEO ?

Have I missed a shooting incident or is Portsmouth being mixed up with Plymouth?

@Lightning22 , I think you're right; they're getting mixed up. They start with the same letter and are both on the south coast.;)

It's just something I've never encountered before, he would've put clay shooting as the reason so what he uses is a strange question to ask, you can use any sec2 you wish!

When a friend of mine had his visit, he was also asked intrusive questions about his ex wife and their relationship.
Whether they got on, did he have a vendetta and why he wanted a shot gun?

He said "If I wanted to kill her I'd just use a hammer!" :D

As above, just say a cheap clay gun. They are interested in where you are going to shoot so I just named the local clay ground.
