1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

    Hi everybody!

Following hot on the heels of the AGF 2021 Friendly 10m Pistol Competition and back by popular demand (I hope!)… may I welcome you to…. you guessed it….

The AGF 2022 Friendly 10m Pistol Competition!!!

    The :rules01: are simple…

    • Any power source is allowed (PCP/SSP/CO2/Spring etc) - use what you have.
    • Open sights only - no red dot or optics allowed, however fibre optic type open sights are permitted.
    • 10 shots to be taken at 10 metres, measured from the firing line to the target.
    • Wherever possible, competitors must shoot the pistol with one hand, standing unsupported. Two handed or rested shooting is allowed for shooters with a physical impairment or disability that requires it.
    • 17cm ISSF type 10m pistol targets are to be used, inward scoring applies.
    • The number of Xs (inner tens) will be used to determine the monthly winner in a score tie-break situation.
    • In the event of a tie in a single month of the same score and X count, a joint winner for that month will be announced and a point awarded to each shooter.
    • Targets without an X ring (such as Bisley brand) can be used, but in a tie situation a score submitted on a target with an X ring with a clear X count will take precedence so please use targets with an X ring if you are likely to submit a high score to contend for first place.
    • It is recommended to shoot two targets of five shots each for reliable scoring if you are likely to shoot tight groups that will obliterate the scoring lines and make scoring difficult with ten shots on one target.
    • If there is a tie at the end of the year, stamped targets (2 x practice, 2 x competition) will be posted to each shooter to be shot and scores returned (either via post, or scanned images/photographs) to the organiser within 21 days of receipt. If no response is received in this time, barring exceptional circumstance, the shooter will forfeit to their opponent.

You can submit one entry per month, per gun.

This means if you have several pistols and you want to enter a target shot with a CO2 gun, and also submit a target shot with a PCP then please do. The more the merrier!

Your highest scoring target will be considered when picking the monthly winner but we will also keep track of the scores per gun type, so at the end of the year we can announce the overall winner and also the best shooter for CO2/Spring/SSP/PCP etc.

To keep scoring and record-keeping easy, please submit your entry with a photo of your target/s with your username, pistol type and model, ammo type and your score, and don’t forget to show off the pistol you are using!

    For example:

    Screenshot 2022-01-05 at 19.23.02.png

    ReSyC
    PCP - Steyr EVO 10
    H&N Econ II pellets
    91 2x

    This competition relies on honesty.

Shooting all month or shooting 5 targets back to back and entering the best card isn’t in the spirit of a friendly forum competition or fair play, so I would encourage you to commit to shooting a target for the competition.

Pop off a few practice targets to warm up, and then go for it - entering the score that is shot. It’s closer to ‘real life’ and adds a bit of pressure to keep us on our toes!

That’s about it with all the serious stuff! :D

Even though this is being run as a competition, the reason I'm running this is to get everyone out there shooting and having a go!

There will be monthly winners and an overall champion, but this is all about doing what you can with what you’ve got and it doesn’t matter if you score 1 point or 100 points - get out there, have a go and have fun shooting! :thumb:

We all want to see what you can do and what pistols you are shooting with, and you can use it as a way to set yourself personal challenges if you like to keep raising the bar, beat your personal best, shoot more by committing to get a card in every month …whatever works for you!

As with last year, we will keep January open for shooters to stockpile targets and pellets and get some practice in, and we will start scoring from February 1st.

So dust off your pistols, get practicing and good luck!

Excellent news that this comp is carrying on for 2022. Really enjoy practicing during the month and then posting an entry towards the end of the month. This comp has helped improve my pistol shooting no end and the advice available here is priceless.
    Many thanks to @ReSyC :thumb:

Looking forward to it already, I need to sort myself out and make time to enter all the categories instead of now and again like I did last year.

Spent the weekend doing an NSRA instructor training course so I can do training for our local school team and pony club shooters. Very interesting being watched at such close quarters while shooting and then watching others and making constructive critics m to help develop a shooter.

Still practicing for February. Not great but ok. Takes a lot of concentration to keep all the shots in the black on a long session. Low score of 90 high of 95 in 80 shots o_O

    Hi all

Only a few days left to go now until the 2022 competition begins, and to give everyone an added incentive...

... the trophies have arrived :thumb:

One for the champion, and an individual little one for the top shot of each category.

Only something small, but all good fun and something to shoot for! :thumb:
