1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I have the Styre Pro X (not scout) on my list of 50 guns to own before I die!

If you have one of these, or if you previously owned one, how did you find it? What would you have changed? What did you change? Did you find it perfect out of the box?

I always service all my guns, right down to the last nut and bolt so making changes and modifications doesn't worry me in the slightest, I quite enjoy it.

Just wondering how you folks got it with it and if you thought it was worth the purchase. Please let me know.

    Many thanks.

Stocks are very plain in appearance for the price and the ping from the hammer when firing. Other than that mine has been excellent, accuracy out to 50 yards is very, very good. Solved the ping with an LP50 hammer spring and front & rear delrin guide.

Well I found it as close to perfect out of the box as you can get I think. They are fairly straightforward to work on and Simon at Steyr UK is helpful. I have changed the stock on mine and added a cosmetic shroud to hide the barrel 1/2" UNF adapter for the moderator. I will shortly be re-arranging the bellevilles on my reg too. :D

I have a non scout Pro X. Bought it new a few years ago.

Never had any trouble with it. Actually I lie I had an issue where it wouldn't refill unless it was very low on pressure. Steyr UK sorted it quickly and without cost. I do service rifles myself but haven't touched this other than cleaning. It's fired more pellets than probably any gun I've ever owned. It's very accurate but isn't a match rifle. It's amazing fun to rattle through the magazine on rapid fire :p.

The magazines can have an issue where the pellets drop into the action as you load them unless you tilt the action forwards whilst you load the magazine. I've designed and made a pellet seating tool that solves this issue, together with a speed loader and magazine case for Pro X magazines. (Sorry - shameless plug!)

I'd say if you want a short rifle go for the Scout version as once you add a silencer the non scout ends up almost normal rifle length. Not an issue in itself just an observation.

The stock is a bit boring but works well. You can get laminate which looks a lot nicer and suits the no nonsense design better IMO.

I upgraded mine with a custom stock. (More pictures in the gun gallery)

I'd also say try not to go big on your scope. I did and it spoilt the balance. It's much better suited to smaller scopes. They are a heavy enough rifle on their own without adding a 2kg scope! :D

Just spend your money on pellets and a few extra magazines :thumb:.

Had one for a while now, opinon as folllows:

-The Pro-x magazines have a bit of an issue with pellet retention, i.e. pellets have a habit of falling out and causing a jam if not deeply seated into the magazine. @gazzago 's pellet seater fixes this (quite annoying) issue.
-The bipod that sits over the barrel of the rifle is really good
-Having the semi-automatic function is a lot of fun
-The wood stocks can be a bit dull, so if you get one its worth making sure you have a good one
-Quite hard to fit a breech flag into if your club requires one
-The trigger is really very good

It is, however, three times as expensive as the HW100/AAxxx benchmarks. Is it better than them? Yes. Is it three times better? No. The law of diminishing returns applies in this case.

As it happens, I had mine sent back to be de-tuned as it was too close to the limit with some pellets. My advice to you though would be not to touch the internals yourself unless you have a very good reason to. When you buy one, you get a handbook that shows the shot pattern your indvidual rifle produced, to show it was working properly. While I am happy to fully strip down and adjust other rifles I have no intention of messing with my Pro-x.

I’ve not had my grey laminate Scout a huge amount of time (eight months) but have gone through more pellets with it than anything else by far!
It takes a strong will after taking shot #1 as careful as you like to not then rattle #2-10 off very quickly indeed and shockingly accurately too. Very much Fun.
Trigger isn’t adjustable but I think it’s very good indeed, for the configuration.
Demands more magazines that are not cheap due to this fun factor (I’ve four now)…
As others have said, @gazzago ’s magazine pellet seating press tool has made a world of difference as pellets do fall out all over the place without it. That sorts that problem.
Annoyances I guess would be that it doesn’t have a threaded barrel so needs a Steyr adaptor to fit a silencer. Not the tidiest but serves a purpose.
And that it has no piccatinny rail to mount a bipod. I’ve the AirForce1/Steyr bipod on mine which is fantastic and folds up in a very cool way IMO (there’s a newer carbon version that I’m tempted with for no other reason than it’s newer and carbon. It’s a dense thing so every little helps I guess :D). The picatinny rail for the scope is very high which I believe was fitted to the later models to accommodate said bipod. Sadly the original lower one is no longer available from Steyr but then you wouldn’t be able to fit the bipod if you did fit it - unless you have one of the swanky custom stocks some of the lads have above
Or you saw off a lower one.. ahem @Jimmypie
Overall, love it and zero plans to sell for the foreseeable :thumb:
